Toyota Auto Body Co., a member of the Toyota Motor Group, is taking on hundreds of seconded workers from aircraft industry firms including Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., it was learned.
These companies are working together across industries to maintain employment amid a drop in demand for aircraft due to the novel coronavirus crisis.
Toyota Auto Body has been accepting personnel from Kawasaki Heavy Industries since last autumn, and plans to do the same for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries from now on.
The seconded workers will be assigned to operations at the Yoshiwara Plant in Aichi Prefecture, which produces the Land Cruiser SUV, and the Inabe Plant in Mie Prefecture, which produces the Alphard and other models.
