A 278-kilogram bluefin tuna was sold for a record-high 333.6 million yen (about 3 million dollars) at the "hatsuseri" New Year auction on Saturday morning, held for the first time at the Toyosu wholesale market in Tokyo. Kiyomura, operator of the Sushizanmai sushi restaurant chain, bought the tuna, which was caught in waters off Oma, Aomori Prefecture. Toyosu replaced Tsukiji as Tokyo's main wholesale fish market in October 2018.
