Toy Story 4: Tom Hanks signs off 'to infinity and beyond' leaving fans in tears

Tom Hanks left fans in tears after he signed off his final Toy Story 4 scene.

The US star returned to voice loveable sheriff Woody in the upcoming instalment which will see the anthropomorphised toys take a road trip.

Hanks shared a picture of himself delivering his final line in the recording studio as he made a nod to Buzz Lightyear’s famous “to infinity and beyond” catchphrase.

“Final line, final session as Woody of Toy Story 4,” he wrote. “We rode like the wind, to infinity and beyond. Hanx.”

One fan commented: “Yep .. just teared up.”

Another wrote: “I cried at the last one ! What will this do to me !!!”

A third posted: “I want to cry my eyes out.”

Tim Allen, who voices Buzz, also marked the end of filming, telling fans “it got emotional”.

“Finished my Buzz for Toy Story 4 today and it got emotional,” he tweeted. “Wonderful full body story. You are all going to love the work this incredible team at Pixar created. We are all going to love this story....man its got everything.”

Newcomer Tony Hale, who plays Forky, posted a selfie with the cast and crew, posting: “Final day recording Toy Story 4 with these wonderful people. Can’t wait for everyone to see it! #forkylives.”

Hanks previously hinted that the fourth film could be the last, describing his last day in the studio as “a moment in history”.

Speaking to Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2 he said: “Toy Story is going to have an impactful ending. When I went in for my last day of recording I wanted to have my back to them.

“Usually you’re facing them so you can look right up and talk about it but I didn’t want to see them and I wanted to pretend they couldn’t see me. When I realised what they were going for I thought ‘oh, this is a moment in history’.”

The new film will also see the return of Bo Peep after an unexpected reunion with the toys, who now belong to Bonnie.

“Bo’s taken control of her own destiny,” said director Josh Cooley. “While Woody was watching Andy grow up, Bo gathered dust until she took it upon herself to head out into the world.”

Toy Story 4 is slated for UK cinema release on June 21
