Toy Show star Saoirse Ruane's mum asks for prayers as daughter takes on 'biggest battle' with illness

Saoírse Ruane's mum has asked for prayers for the 2020 RTE Late Late Toy Show star as she takes on her biggest health battle to date.

Saoirse captured the hearts of the nation when she appeared on the Late Late Toy Show in 2020 where the brave 11-year-old inspired people around the country with her positive attitude and bravery after she opened up on having her leg amputated due to a cancer diagnosis.

Saoírse's family have since continued to share their story and mum Roseanna has given an update on how Saoirse is doing, RSVP Live reports.

Earlier this month, Roseanna shared that the family had reached “a bump in the road”:

"There on the screen was her X-ray, staring me in the face, there was no denying this recurrent tumour. Her 3rd to date," Roseanna shared on her Instagram, ‘Saoirse and mamma’.

Roseanna has thanked her followers for the support in such a “difficult stretch” and has asked her followers to keep Saoirse in their prayers as she prepares to undergo more treatment:

“Your love and support definitely carried us through a difficult stretch of confusion, heartache, time spent wondering, time spent waiting and attending hospital appointments.

"As you all know, this was never going to be an easy journey for Saoírse, every battle she won has been a true testament to her, her strength and her determination."

She added: "We are thankful to our amazing team who are always there to help us along the way, supporting us, guiding us and coming up with the next plan.

"We travelled to Dublin last week for a lengthy meeting with our team and since then we have been taking time to absorb the outcome of same.

"The plan this time is that Saoírse will start the next phase of treatment in the coming weeks. This by far will be her biggest battle to date.

"It breaks our hearts to watch her go through all this trauma again. She’s only 11. Old enough to know a little of what’s going on but too young to have to deal with such an ordeal again.

"The disbelief that she is back here again is so immense. We are so so proud of the beautiful precious and courageous girl we are so lucky to call our daughter. As always she continues to smile everyday.

"We are so grateful to you all for the love you continue to send us. We will keep you posted as we see fit and ask you to once again continue to keep Saoírse our precious girl in your prayers. Saoírse, you are a force to be reckoned with. We wish more than anything to be able to take way your pain but we will be right beside you every step of the way".
