A woman charged with the murder of a Townsville woman will remain behind bars after her case was mentioned in court.

Chante Lee White has been charged with one count of murder following the stabbing of Kayla Golding on Friday evening.

Police say Ms Golding was stabbed once in the neck with a hunting knife at a Condon home. The knife was found near the unit block which is owned by Queensland's housing department.

Neighbours who heard a commotion peered out their window to see Ms Golding lying on the ground.

Paramedics fought to save her but she died later in hospital.

Lawyers represented White in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday. She did not appear and was remanded in custody.

She is set for a committal hearing on August 4.

A 39-year old man Jamie Alan McAuliffe has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder, after surrendering himself to police on Sunday afternoon.

No application for bail was made for him on Monday and his mention has been adjourned to Wednesday.
