Townhill Primary in Hamilton alerts parents and carers to coronavirus case

A Hamilton primary announced this morning that a member of their school community has tested positive for Covid-19.

Townhill Primary issued a letter to parents and carers alerting them to the news.

Ally McGovern, acting head teacher, wrote: “We have been made aware that a member of the school community has tested positive for Covid-19.

“We are currently working with NHS Lanarkshire Public Health who have initiated the Test and Protect system.

“The Test and Protect team will be back in touch with the school when the assessment is complete, and we will provide you with a further update at this time.

“In terms of advice to the wider community, if individuals experience any COVID symptoms, such a new continuous cough, fever, loss of taste or smell, or shortness of breath, even if they are mild, they should stay off school and arrange for a test.

“Information on how to access testing is available from NHS Inform. https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-andpoisoning/coronavirus-covid-19.”

The news follows the announcement that a pupil at Calderside Academy also tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, September 1.
