Town's most expensive home has unusual history with past owners including Hollywood star

A three bedroom house once owned by a navy admiral as well as a Hollywood star known for Scarface and the Abyss has gone on the market.

The family home, known as the Anchorage, sits on the waterfront in Kinsale, Co Cork and comes with its own private boat slip and mooring.

The semi-detached home is laid out over three storeys and includes three reception rooms, a luxurious kitchen, a study, a sun lounge and a terrace overhanging the water.

With the highest asking price of any property in Kinsale, anyone who stumps up the £2.2million will follow in the footsteps of some unusual past owners who enjoyed the incredible views, CorkBeo reported.

In the 1800s it was owned by a British Navy admiral but was later owned by Hollywood’s Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, star of Scarface and The Color of Money, and her husband Bafta award-winning Director Pat O'Connor

The listing says: “This luxury property has been renovated extensively by its current owners, who from their international travels have brought a real sense of contemporary and classic style to the property.

“The house exudes character and has a lovely energy, enhanced by its south west facing aspect, water frontage and exceptionally beautiful sea views.

“A charming restored Victorian property commanding spectacular views over Kinsale Harbour, it is a cornerstone property in the history of Summercove Village.”

The kitchen enjoys views over the harbour through three sash windows and has granite worktops, a Belfast sink and AGA, a built-in casual dining area in the bay window, a built-in coffee machine, built-in wine fridges and a wine rack for up to 100 bottles. Off the kitchen is a huge dining perfect for dinner parties.

The drawing room has a large feature fireplace with limestone surround and original leather seating, three floor-to-ceiling wooden sash windows with panelling arranged in a large bay window, and an extra high ceiling. To the rear of the drawing room is a study and library lounge, fitted with bookshelves.

On the first-floor landing is the master bedroom suite with fireplace, a walk-in dressing room and an adjoining en-suite shower room, while the second floor is home to the family bathroom and two double bedrooms, both with vaulted ceiling and stunning vistas over Kinsale Harbour from their built-in window seats.
