TOWIE star Mick Norcross's cause of death confirmed at inquest

The Only Way is Essex star Mick Norcross's death last month left his family and friends heartbroken, and today an inquest has confirmed the circumstances.

Grandfather Mick, 57, was found dead at his home in Essex on January 21 this year.

Today's inquest, held virtually by Essex Coroner's Court, was told Mick was found in the basement of his home with police and paramedics attending the scene - reports Mirror Online.

Following a post-mortem on 26 January at Basildon hospital, Mick's cause of death was found to be suspension by ligature.

The inquest was adjourned to the 22nd July.

Essex police had been called to Mick's address in Bulphan at 3.15pm on January 21.

A spokesperson confirmed at the time that they were not treating the death as suspicious.

They said: "Sadly, a man inside was pronounced dead. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

On the morning of his death Mick to took to Twitter and told his 510,500 followers: "At the end remind yourself that you did the best you could. And that is good enough."

When the Sugarhut owner's death was confirmed later that day, Mick's poignant last post was shared numerous times by fans and his former TOWIE co-stars.

Mick joined the ITV reality show in its second series, making numerous appearances alongside his son Kirk, 32, who had been one of the original cast members.

Many of the stars took to social media to pay tribute to Mick in the hours following his death.

James Argent called Mick a 'true gentleman and a very kind man, "RIP Mick. Many amazing memories, so sad! My thoughts are with the family."

Gemma Collins shared a photo of her with Mick on Instagram along with a touching tribute.

The pair dated briefly during their time on the ITV2 show.

She said: "ALWAYS A GENTLEMAN. absolutely shocked and saddened by the news. my thoughts and prayers are going out to Kirk family and friends absolutely tragic.

“The memories of the early days the sugar hut and the wonderful filming parties you put on will never be forgotten. you never know what someone is going through you was one of the good guys."
