Georgia Kousoulou's heartbreak as nan tests positive for coronavirus in care home

TOWIE's Georgia Kousoulou has revealed that her nan contracted coronavirus while living at a care home.

The 29-year-old reality star opened up about her family's heartbreak at not knowing when they will see their grandma next.

Georgia's nan, who originally hailed from Greece, is living in a London care home and also suffers from dementia.

In a moving interview with the MailOnline, Georgia explained she normally visits her nan twice a month but because of the pandemic this hasn't been possible.

The television star also revealed that because of her dementia, her nan didn't understand when she contracted Covid-19.

"It's so difficult when you have a family member that doesn't even know who you are," Georgia told the publication, in regards to her Nan's dementia.

"The person is there, so you're trying to get your mind around the fact they're there but their mind has gone. Dementia is a massive thing in my family."

She added: "My mum's Nan had it and my Greek Nan has got it now, she's actually in a home and it's the saddest thing."

Georgia, who is currently promoting Dementia UK's 'Lives on Hold' campaign, was confident that her Gran would be ok.

She added: "She actually had Covid, she got tested for it but obviously she didn't understand.

"It was so scary when we got the call but my Nan is a strong Greek woman and I hoped she would be all right."

During her interview, the blonde bombshell reaped praise on NHS staff that are working to support those who are unable to see their families.

As part of the Dementia UK campaign, Georgia is hoping to help shed more light on the difficulties that dementia patients and carers face.
