TOWIE's Vas J Morgan says racist trolls almost drove him to suicide

Vas J Morgan has opened up about his battle with depression and his suicide attempt.

The former TOWIE star was badly trolled when he first joined the cast of the show in 2014 and was often subjected to racial hate, which badly impacted his mental health.

He told the MailOnline : "I wasn't aware of how intense the scrutiny of social media is, I was trolled quite early on and a lot of it was racial actually.

"I also was struggling with my sexuality which I had difficulty coming to terms with."

Vas started drinking and partying hard every night and three years ago he started having suicidal thoughts.

He added: "I woke up in a very dark place one morning and I realised enough was enough.

"There was a suicide attempt that day."

He was admitted into hospital and spent four months in rehab.

Vas has raised more than £20,000 in under 12 hours after he started a fundraiser following the tragic death of George Floyd in police custody.

George died after a police officer knelt on his back for five minutes.

Since then there have been riots and protests across the US.

Money raised from Vas' fundraiser will help his I Am Enough campaign, which will help members of the black community get help to deal with trauma and other mental health issues.

Paris Hilton, Joan Smalls, Nadia Essex and football player Ben Chilwell have donated.

Vas felt motivated to act after George's death brought back his own self-esteem issues.
