TOWIE's Joey Essex joins cast of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Australia

The Only Way Is Essex star Joey Essex has joined the cast of the Australian version of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

He joined the other cast members on Tuesday night after hiding in a secret room until his surprise appearance.

The 31-year-old has experience surviving in the jungle as he was previously on the UK version of the show in 2013. He came in fourth place.

"I'm Joey Essex. I'm an international reality star and most people know me from The Only Way Is Essex," he introduced himself on the survival show.

Although the TV personality is incredibly well known in the UK, it seems like Australians haven't got a clue who he is.

Many took to Twitter after witnessing his arrival to question who the newcomer is.

One user tweeted: "#ImACelebrityAU no idea who Joey Essex is but wiki says he has been on UK version I’m a celeb."

"Who in the bluest of Blue Hells is Joey f'n' Essex? I like to think I'm up with celeb news & I wouldn't know him if I tripped over him in the street #ImACelebrityAU," another questioned.

One UK fan posted: "I love that 99% of Australians will have no idea who Joey Essex is, oblivious to the fact he’s the UK’s most iconic himbo."

Another Australian fan posted: "If Joey Essex thinks everyone knows who he is, he’s wrong."

Many viewers of the show couldn't help but be distracted by his bright white teeth.

"Joey's teeth are so white and perfect it's scaring me," one person said while another added: "They don't look good, they look plastic. Celebrities need to stop doing it. Teeth are like bones, they're not pure white."

Joey had many iconic moments while he was on UK's I'm A Celeb and hopefully his second stint will be just as iconic.

The former TOWIE star said he struggled to tell the time on a traditional clock, so beauty queen Amy Willerton taught him, using a drawing in the dirt.

Joey was so happy with the new skill he learned that he did an “I can tell the time” dance.

It was also later revealed that Joey asked Amy to be in a fake relationship with him after they left the show.

Speaking candidly in Now magazine, she said: “To be honest that was a horrible experience. If someone says to you: ‘Hey, let’s be in a fake relationship!’ you’re like: ‘No, that’s not what I want!’ I didn’t even know that kind of thing went on.”
