Tower restaurant doing gluten-free afternoon tea with view of Edinburgh Castle, and it looks lush

Tower Restaurant on Chambers Street are best known for their impressive views across to Edinburgh Castle, but the lofty eatery on top of the National Museum of Scotland now has a second claim to fame: their delicious looking gluten free afternoon tea.

They shared a snap of the delicious-looking, treat-laden tiers posed perfectly against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle on their Facebook page and it got dozens of comments from impressed coeliacs and gluten-intolerant diners.

The gluten free afternoon tea is the same price as the regular version - £27.50, or £37.50 with a glass of champagne.

Diners get a selection of sandwiches like ham and cheese, egg mayo and cress and cucumber and dill butter, as well as savoury pastries. You'll also get gluten-free scones, clotted cream and jam along with a selection of other fresh cakes and desserts.

If you're feel like a cocktail with your afternoon tea, they've got you covered as well. They sell "G and Tea cocktails" (silver tip infused gin grenadine, cranberry juice and grapefruit juice) or "Rosy Lee Martinis" (silver-tip tea-infused Tanqueray Martini Rosso, rose syrup and lemon) to wash your food down with.

The afternoon tea is served between 2pm and 6pm each day. To book email reservations@tower-restaurant.com
