The Tower of London is commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War by planting thousands of ceramic poppies. The installation is named Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red and takes its title from an unknown soldier’s poem. The aim is that a total of 888,246 poppies, one for every death in the British forces in the First World War, will be added until the Tower of London has been encircled. The Last Post is also being played at sunset over the Tower moat every evening.

If you are a volunteer taking part from round the world, or if you want to share your stories about why this installation means so much to you, we would love to see your photos and videos of the poppies installation. We will feature the best of them on our site.
