Tower Hamlets murder suspect arrested after woman in 30s dies from neck injury in east London

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman who was found with a neck injury at a home in east London.

Police were called to a residential property in City Island Way, Poplar, at around 4pm on Friday following reports of an assault.

The Met said a woman believed to be in her 30s was found with a neck injury and pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman has not been formally identified but police said her next of kin have been informed.

The force said a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after attending a south London police station on Saturday and remains in custody.

Police said it is believed the victim was known to the suspect.
