A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being attacked by a group of men armed with a bat in Tower Hamlets.
Police were called at around 5.10pm on Monday to reports of a man assaulted in Globe Road, Bethnal Green.
The man was rushed to an east London hospital. He remains in critical condition, a police spokesman said.
He added: "At this early stage it appears he was assaulted by a group of men armed with a bat."
A crime scene remains in place in Globe Road while police investigate. There have been no arrests.
