Some stars go for armpit-high splits, some try to pass off lingerie as a dress, but for this pop star, her red carpet statement was made with ovaries.

Arriving at the 2016 ARIA Awards, Swedish singer Tove Lo rocked a sheer orange dress with a print of the female reproductive system emblazoned on the front. And there's not much more to say, really.

While most would agree the reproductive system print was an odd choice, it looks to have been well received.

Fellow pop star Charli XCX tweeted: "Talking to my girl @tovelo right now about RECLAIMING THE FEMALE HARD ON!!!! #fairydust #slayqueen".

And a fan tweeted: "Tove Lo's dress at the #ARIAS with ovaries on it made my own explode".

She later changed from her orange ovary dress into a sequined bikini and bubblegum-pink coat to perform with artist Flume at the awards.

Earlier this year, Australian Oscars presenter Edwina Bartholomew, who was thrilled with what she saw as an "Elsa-inspired" dress, was pulled up on social media over a ruffle on her gown that viewers decided resembled a uterus.
