NAINITAL: Nainital woke up to a white cover on all popular spots like Himalaya Darshan site, China peak and Kilbury Road as higher reaches of the lake town received the season’s first snowfall on Friday. Locals as well as tourists in the town who had assembled for the weekend rejoiced at the sight.
Businessmen and hoteliers of Nainital also rejoiced, as the snowfall will now attract more tourists to Nainital.
Surabh Gautam and Priya from Lucknow, a soon-to-be married couple, said they were overjoyed as they could have their pre-wedding shoot amid snow in Nainital. “We wanted to go to Kashmir but seeing there's a prediction of a temperature drop in Nainital, we called our photography team here. My dream to have a pre-wedding photoshoot in the snow came true,” said Priya.
Mukesh Haldar, 24, from Rudrapur, said, “We were headed to Mukteshwar but when we heard there’s snow in Nainital, we changed our plans and came here. Some people in our group have never seen snow before.”
