A daredevil narrowly avoided disaster when his bungee cord suddenly snapped after a 100ft jump, plunging him into a lake.
The tourist, from Hong Kong and named only as Mike, dived from the top of a 10-storey high podium during a holiday in Thailand.
Instead of being thrown back into the air, the rope snapped and the 39-year-old fell.
Luckily for Mike the jump was made over a body of water at the Changthai Thappraya Safari and Adventure Park, and rescuers were with him straight away.
Instead of almost certain death, he suffered several injuries to his left hand side but lived to tell the tale.

He told CNN: “It was really high so I closed my eyes. I planned to open my eyes again when I bounced back up.
“I realised the cord had snapped when I opened my eyes and I was surrounded by water.
“I landed on my left side so the injuries were more serious there, it was as if someone just beat me up real bad.”
Mike’s dunk into the water was all the more serious as his feet were still bound together by the bungee rope, but he was able to get to the surface.

He and his friends had visited the popular park to use its firing range but he decided to give the bungee jump a go when he was encouraged by his mates.
Nithit Intim, the park’s founder, confirmed the accident took place and said it was the first an incident of its type had happened.
He added: “After the cord was broken, our staff got him out of the water immediately, and asked him if he was okay.
“He said he felt bruised. So we took him to the hospital.

“Our staff explained that if any mishap happens or any accident takes place, our company will compensate medical bills but the client can’t demand compensation or any other kind of expenses.”
Footage of his terrifying ordeal was shared widely on social media.
One said: “Well that’s put me off doing anything ever.”
Another added: “He is so, so lucky he was not killed.
“This is honestly my biggest nightmare, it must have been so scary.
“He should sue the park for all it’s got.”
