Long-haul travel specialist Funway Holidays is to cease trading at the end of September.
The tour operator, which organised breaks to the USA and Caribbean, said it had made the “difficult decision” to close Funway Holidays International on September 30 because of the ongoing impact of Covid-19.
No new bookings or re-bookings will be accepted following the announcement, MirrorOnline reports.
All bookings departing on or after September 1 have been cancelled, with deposits set to be refunded in full.
In a statement it said: “The ongoing impact of Covid-19 has been so severe that the difficult decision has been made to close the business.
“Rest assured, we will honour our obligations and ensure a smooth wind down of our company over the next three months.”
The statement added: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful agent partners. Whilst the Funway journey is coming to a close, we hope all of our partners emerge from this crisis and enjoy a most prosperous future.”
Funways started its UK tour operation in 1993, offering holidays to the United States which were tailored to the British market.
It later expanded to offer holidays Mexico and the Caribbean. In 2003 it was voted Virgin Atlantic Tour Operator of the Year.
Carla Van Der Giesen, vice-president and general manager, said the decision was not taken lightly.
She said: “We leave behind a legacy of truly memorable holidays that our team has helped create for our many customers over the course of several decades.”
