Tour one of Glasgow's best loved beer gardens as it prepares for socially distanced reopening

One of Glasgow's best-loved beer gardens is preparing to reopen as the hospitality sector awaits Nicola Sturgeon's announcement on lockdown easing tomorrow.

The team behind Ashton Lane favourite Brel have been putting preparations in place for the potential green light for beer gardens to open in the coming days.

Glasgow Live were invited to the West end for a socially-distanced catch-up with Brel owner Oli Norman and to see what plans are being put in place for Glaswegians to safely enjoy a pint in the sun as and when the Scottish Government guidelines allow.

In our video, which you can watch by pressing play on the video player above, Oli explains what beer-thirsty west-enders can expect from the new set-up, the social distancing measures being put in place and even how customers can safely use the toilets - when the bar is given go ahead to open back up.

In the meantime, starting this weekend, Brel is re-opening for takeaway. From Saturday, staff will be serving up the famous moules frites, Brel burgers and squid rings to take away along with ice cold pints, Pimm’s and slushies on a first come, first served basis from 12pm - 6pm.

Furthermore, Glasgow businessman and bar owner Oli talked of his team's excitement to welcome people back to the popular Ashton Lane venue weeks after the Coronavirus crisis first took hold in our city.

Nicola Sturgeon is expected to go ahead with her plan to implement phase two of her road map out of lockdown tomorrow.

As part of the phase two plans, Scottish Government proposals include for pubs and restaurants to reopen outdoor areas and the potential for meeting of larger groups outside.
