Jonas Vingegaard is the first leader and first yellow jersey of the 2026 Tour de France after his Visma-Lease a Bike team powered to victory in the stage 1 team time trial.
The Dane crossed the line solo ahead of his Visma teammates to take top spot in the GC rankings in Barcelona.
With Netcompany Ineos finishing the stage in second place, Filippo Ganna, who led the team across the line, lies second overall, eight seconds down on Vingegaard.
Tadej Pogačar of third-placed UAE Team Emirates-XRG is third overall, finishing 12 seconds slower than the time of his great rival Vingegaard.
Lidl-Trek's leader Juan Ayuso lies fourth, 16 seconds down, while world time trial champion Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) lies in fifth at 19 seconds.
Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) is sixth at 26 seconds, two seconds up on Davide Piganzoli (Visma-Lease a Bike).
Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), Tobias Foss (Netcompany Ineos), and French favourite Paul Seixas (Decathlon CMA CGM) round out the top 10. The trio lie 35, 38, and 39 seconds down on Vingegaard.
There were a few GC contenders to suffer on the 19.6km stage, with Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) giving up 1:36, Cian Uijtdebroeks (Movistar) losing 1:53, and Kévin Vauquelin (Netcompany Ineos) conceding 1:14.
