The third round of the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club is underway.
A weather delay began at 4:17 p.m. due to storms in the Atlanta area after only two groups had finished play. Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka, the final group to tee off Saturday, had finished five holes. At 4:45 p.m. there was lightning struck a tree near the 15th green and 16th tee. The debris from the strike injured four fans, sending them and two others to Atlanta-area hospitals.
The PGA Tour suspended play and announced it would resume the third round Sunday at 8 a.m.
Koepka slipped with bogeys on the first hole and third holes to hand the lead to Justin Thomas. Thomas, even par through three holes, leads at 12 under and sits one stroke ahead of Koepka, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele.
On Friday, Koepka made a short birdie putt on the 18th hole to take the lead at 13 under to lead Thomas and McIlroy by one shot entering the third round.
Schauffele, who made par on his first three holes, slid down the leaderboard Friday with three bogeys, but an eagle on the last hole gave him a 1-under 69.
Gary Woodland, 3 under through 11 holes, has had one of the best rounds among the early starters. He has jumped six spots to sit in T-8 at 5 under.
