Tough but fair: Why is Donald Trump sending Tom Homan to Minneapolis in a snub to Kristi Noem?

In a major federal action in Minneapolis which is on fire over ICE crackdowns and shootings, Donald Trump Monday annoinced that he will send border czar Tom Homan to Minneapolis who woll now directly report to him. “I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight. He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there,” Trump said in the post. “Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me.”

"Separately, a major investigation is going on with respect to the massive 20 Billion Dollar, Plus, Welfare Fraud that has taken place in Minnesota, and is at least partially responsible for the violent organized protests going on in the streets. Additionally, the DOJ and Congress are looking at “Congresswoman” Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars. Time will tell all," Trump announced.

The announcement came two days after the fatal shooting of Alez Jeffrey Pretti by federal agents -- the second in the same month. Earlier in January, Minneapolis woman Renee Good was shot dead by an ICE agent. The back-to-back bunglings came as a result of Kristi Noem's failure while Democrats called for Noem's impeachment.

After Pretti was killed, Noem alleged he had approached Border Patrol agents with a handgun and “violently resisted” when officers tried to disarm him. However, eyewitness videos do not appear to show Pretti holding a gun in the moments before his death. Local officials have said that he had a permit to carry a gun. The same narrative failure happened in the case of Renee Good as well.

After Good was killed, Noem said Good tried to run over the ICE agent with her car while footage showed that she was trying to reverse her car.

Krishti Noem's reaction

Kristi Noem thanks Trump for sending Tom Homan to Minneapolis and said this is good news for peace, safety, and accountability in Minneapolis. "I have worked closely with Tom over the last year and he has been a major asset to our team— his experience and insight will help us in our wide-scale fraud investigations, which have robbed Americans, and will help us to remove even more public safety threats and violent criminal illegal aliens off the of streets of Minneapolis. We continue to call on the leadership in Minnesota to allow for state and local partnership in our public safety mission. Thank you Mr President," Noem wrote.
