'Tough ask' - Nottingham Forest fans debate promotion chances ahead of restart

It will look a little different, but football is back. Nottingham Forest will take to the pitch again in less than a fortnight’s time to resume their promotion push.

The Reds’ last runout was a 3-0 defeat at home to Millwall in March, with sport shut down since then due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men will return on Saturday, June 20, however, when they make the trip to face Sheffield Wednesday.

They have a big nine games ahead as they look to cement their place in the top six - although they will have to do so without the backing of the Forest faithful in stadiums, with matches taking place behind closed doors for the rest of the campaign.

The Reds are fifth in the table, 10 points behind second-placed West Bromwich Albion and 11 adrift of leaders Leeds United, with a five-point advantage over Bristol City, in seventh.

It promises to be an interesting finale. A kind of mini season.

In addition to the Owls, Lamouchi’s squad host Huddersfield Town, the Robins, Fulham, Swansea City and Stoke City, and have away fixtures against arch-rivals Derby County, Preston North End and Barnsley.
