Tough afternoon for Nottingham Forest's Joe Worrall as Rangers lose late at bitter rivals Celtic

Nottingham Forest's Joe Worrall came within inches of snatching a late equaliser for Rangers in this afternoon's Old Firm derby, after what was a disappointing performance from the Reds academy graduate.

The defender, who is on loan at Ibrox for the entirety of the season, almost drew his side level in the final moments when he got on the end of a low cross inside the six-yard box, but was denied by a last gasp challenge from Kristoffer Ajer.

Had he have found the net, it would have gone some way towards compensating for what was a poor performance for Steven Gerrard's side.

Rangers could be 'bigger option' than Nottingham Forest for Joe Worrall this summer, says former Reds ace

The 22-year-old, who has received high praise from his loan manager this season, surrendered possession in the build-up to Celtic's opener before struggling to contain pacey forward Odsonne Edouard, who twisted and turned before beating Worrall and finding the bottom corner to give the hosts a first-half lead.

Rangers, the visitors at Celtic Park, had striker Alfredo Morelos, who has been linked with a summer move to Leicester City, sent off mid-way through the first half for an elbow on Celtic skipper Scott Brown - his fifth red of the campaign.

'Gers did pull level with ten men though, through a stunning solo effort from Ryan Kent, but it was Worrall again who was beaten by a Hoops shirt in the build up to Celtic's winner, failing to block a low cross for James Forrest to fire home in the 85th minute.

The win sees Neil Lennon's charges extend their advantage at the top of the SPL to 13 points.
