Touching tributes pour in for mum Rachael Coughlan killed in tragic crash in Drumcondra, Dublin

Tributes have been paid to a mum who was one of two people killed in a fatal crash in Dublin on Friday morning.

Rachael Coughlan, 30s, and a man in his 70s were killed after their cars collided on Drumcondra Road Lower near the junction of Hollybank Road at around 6.30am.

Tragic Rachel was a mother to two young sons and has been remembered by family and friends on social media, Dublin Live reports.

One touching tribute read: "Shocking. Look over your boys and all your family. Beautiful girl. RIP"

Local councillor Janice Boylan also led tributes and said it was "very sad news" for the north inner city community.

She said: "Very sad and shocking news coming from the north inner city today. RIP Rachel.

"My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. And of course RIP to the other man who died in the same collision."

While another person added: "My heart goes out to their families, all my thoughts and prayers were for them. R.I.P."

Gardai are continuing to appeal to witnesses to the fatal collision, or to those with dashcams who may have been in the area at the time, to get in contact.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí wish to renew their appeal to motorists with dashcams or anyone travelling on Drumcondra Rd Lower between 5.45am and 6.15am to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 016668600 , the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda station. 

"The deceased male and female have been removed to the Dublin City Mortuary, Whitehall where a post mortem examination will take place."

The road was closed to traffic until late on Friday morning as gardai carried out a technical and forensic examination of the scene.
