Touching tributes left where man fell to his death from Toxteth tower block

Touching tributes have been left at the scene where a man plunged to his death on Sunday night.

The man, named locally as Peter, fell from the 14th floor of Toxteth tower block, Heysmoor Heights, on Croxteth Road at around 10pm.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

One Monday, residents of the building told the ECHO that Peter is believed to have fallen from a communal balcony on the 14th floor, above the block's front door.

Another man, who lives very close to the spot where the man fell, said he had heard him arguing on the phone shortly before it happened.

Police officers at the scene reportedly told people that the man did not live in the tower block.

A number of touching floral tributes and heartbreaking messages have now been left at the door of the tower block.

One note said: "Peter, RIP. We will miss you. Love Viv and Ian xxx"

Hundreds of other messages were posted to social media after the news of the death.

Rachel Harrison said: "So sad and such a waste of a life. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers for his family and friends."

Traciie Diianne Green added: "Heartbreaking news...thoughts with family."

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed that the death was not being treated as suspicious and that a file had been passed to the coroner.

Enquiries are still on-going to establish the full circumstances of the incident and officers are seeking CCTV and to speak to potential witnesses.
