Christmas has come early for a rescue dog who was struggling with kennel life and in desperate need of a family to call their own.
Sparkle, a five-year-old Romanian rescue, stole everyone’s hearts when she arrived at Oakwood Dog Rescue, in Hull, East Yorkshire.
She's since been melting hearts online after a video of her reacting to getting adopted was posted on social media.
The crossbreed was saved from a kill shelter where she faced ‘certain death’ before being brought over to the UK in October in search of a home.
But the busy animal rescue centre was stressful for Sparkle, who just wanted to be with humans all the time.
A spokesperson for the rescue said: “She's not a fan of other dogs and as you can imagine being at a busy dog rescue is very stressful for her.
"She's struggling because she wants to spend all the time she can with her volunteer friends and gets very upset when they leave her to take care of the other doggies.”
But her luck changed last week when the beautiful dog got her first adoption application - and it was a successful one.
In a video posted to Twitter, Oakwood showed clips of Sparkle in her kennels, followed by her adorable smile and wiggly bum as they told followers she’d finally had an application.
They shared the moment Sparkle met her potential adopters, nearly bowling them - and herself - over.
Oakwood said: “I think it’s safe to say she likes them, which means one thing - just got to finalise the paperwork.”
The clip saw Sparkle lounging in bed as a volunteer asked her: “Are you going home today? Is it adoption day? How exciting.”
The dog, saved by International Dog Rescue, was unable to live with other dogs, cats, or children under 16, and just wanted a home where she could get all the attention and enjoy uninterrupted naps.
Her favourite things include food, zoomies and talking, with volunteers describing her ‘awoos’ as the ‘cutest thing on earth’.
The heart warming video racked up hundreds of likes, with people thrilled to hear Sparkle had been adopted.
One said: “Brilliant news, have a happy life with your new family.”
“Wonderful news, well done to all involved in making it happen,” added another.
A third commented: “Thanks for sharing this beautiful dog and a happy ending story. Have a great life with lots of love, toys and walks as you so deserve it.”
