Touching family tribute to 'heart of gold' gran who died in A48 crash in Cardiff

A woman who died in a crash on the A48 in Cardiff was a former taxi business owner who had a "heart of gold".

Judith Evans, 48, died in the when her car left the road on Eastern Avenue between St Mellons and Pontprennau on Wednesday, July 31.

It is understood that her car veered onto the embankment at around 11.45am and the road had to be closed in both directions for an air ambulance to land.

Police said it was the result of a medical episode and is understood that tests are being carried out to identify exactly what happened.

The family of Ms Evans, from Rhydyfelin, near Pontypridd , have paid tribute:

They said: "Jude was a loving partner to Paul, caring mother to Robert, Michaela, Ashley and Sam and a doting nanny to Aaliyah and Ayesha.

"Jude had a heart of gold as shown by her job as a care assistant.

"Nothing was ever too much trouble for Jude."

They added: "She was also known and loved in the community from when she had her own taxi business.

"She loved to go on her holidays abroad, she almost didn’t come back from Palm Springs California after being offered a job but the thought of her grandchildren brought her home.

"We would like to thank the people that stopped to help at the scene on Wednesday.

"She will be loved and missed by us all, always."
