Touchdown Wire predicts Texans to win Super Bowl in next 10 years

The Houston Texans have all the right pieces to win a Super Bowl: Franchise quarterback, elite pass rusher, and the most dominant receiver in the game.

Factor in these reasons and it is understandable why the Touchdown Wire predicted the Texans to win a Super Bowl in their projections over the next decade.

It may take a few years into the next decade but eventually, Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins & Co. in Houston will find a way to win a Super Bowl. The team is too talented on both sides of the ball to not advance deep in the playoffs and make the long run to the title.

Houston has the right pieces in place on offense, sans an offensive line and running back. However, if first-round tackle Tytus Howard and second-round tackle Max Scharping become the bookends for the offensive line and keep Watson off the turf at NRG Stadium, that could be enough to push them over the top.

However, they have a limited window when it comes to the effectiveness of defensive end J.J. Watt. While he did produce 16.0 sacks in his true comeback season after having the past two robbed with injuries, Father Time will someday pancake him. The Texans have to make hay while the Watt window is open and Watson is still on a rookie contract.

If the Texans were to deliver a Super Bowl, the magical run would include a Houston NFL team reaching a conference title game for the first time since the Oilers in 1979. It would also be the first time a major Houston pro football team played in a league title game since the 1962 AFL championship game against the Dallas Texans. A win would be the city’s first in major pro football since the aforementioned Oilers posted back-to-back titles to kickoff the AFL in 1960-61.
