Ah, the offseason. With players on summer break, outlets are searching for content and lists and rankings are being published everywhere. USA TODAY Sports’ Touchdown Wire recently took a look at which teams who made the playoffs last season are most likely to miss out this year.
TD Wire’s Michael Colangelo predicts the Seahawks are one of six clubs to fall short in 2019 . . . joining the Ravens, Cowboys, Texans, Bears and Saints, who will also be on the outside looking in.
“The magic has to run out at some point,” Colangelo writes of Seattle. “The Seahawks still have a young defense. Russell Wilson has an entirely new receiving corps. Chris Carson is good but is on the field one week and off the field the next. Wilson can only do so much to carry the team. Of course, we said the same thing last year and he carried the team to the playoffs so maybe I am wrong.”
Now that Wilson has signed his mega-money contract extension, Seattle fans can only hope there is plenty of “magic” yet to be had.
Players report to training camp on July 24.
