Touchdown Wire mock draft tabs Greedy Williams at No. 17 for Browns

The NFL Combine has come and gone, which means it’s officially time for a plethora of mock drafts to begin making their ways around in circulation. One of those mock drafts comes from Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar.

At pick No. 17, Farrar elects the Cleveland Browns to draft LSU cornerback Greedy Williams. Farrar’s explanation,

“The rich get richer. The Browns have assembled most of the pieces for a top-10 defense, and new coordinator Steve Wilks is very secondary-minded. Denzel Ward played exceptionally well as a rookie last season, but injury and depth issues abound around him. Pairing Ward with a cornerback of Williams’ length and fluidity might give Cleveland one of the league’s most formidable duos.”

Williams ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at the combine, that time ranked tied for fifth among defensive backs.

The Browns have a need at cornerback opposite of Denzel Ward and Williams potentially fills that void. Overall it’s a good fit for the Browns, with the idea of moving towards an elite secondary.
