Touchdown Wire lists LB Aaron Curry as Seahawks biggest draft bust

The weeks leading up to the NFL draft are full of hopeful optimism. Players are evaluated and fans imagine the tremendous impact these players could have on their team for years to come.

Except, sometimes, they don’t.

Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire took a look at the biggest draft bust from each NFL team, and 2009 first round pick, linebacker Aaron Curry, was chosen as Seattle’s biggest bust.

Curry was taken fourth overall after an explosive career at Wake Forest. He was the whole package; gifted with elite athleticism and nearly the perfect size, Curry seemed destined to have a career as a regular Pro Bowler in the middle for the Seahawks.

Unfortunately, Curry never found his place in the NFL. He struggled to execute assignments, and seemed unable to adjust to the speed and pace of the NFL game.

He played in 35 games for the Seahawks from 2009-2011, racking up 198 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He was eventually traded to the Raiders, playing in 11 games with them before he was cut. He spent some time with the Giants, but never appeared in the NFL again after 2012.

The Seahawks have four picks in next month’s NFL draft, and surely have their eye on a handful of different players, Hopefully, the Seahawks can avoid making another catastrophic pick like they did 10 years ago with Curry.
