Tottenham XI vs Wolves: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, latest injury updates today

Ryan Mason has no fresh injury concerns for today’s visit of Wolves and Tottenham’s interim head coach has resisted the temptation to tinker with his side after last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Leeds.

Eric Dier keeps his place at centre-half despite struggling for all three Leeds goals, and Mason talked up Joe Rodon at his pre-match press conference on Friday but he remains out of the squad.

In midfield, Tanguy Ndombele has been a surprise loser of Mason’s mini-tenure so far and remains on the bench.

Mason again uses the crowd-pleasing ‘BASK’ front four of Gareth Bale, Dele Alli, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane in the last two matches, despite competition from Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Erik Lamela.

“All the 21 outfield players have competed in training and it’s made it difficult to pick a team and a squad,” Mason said.

“But I’ve been happy with everyone, I think the defence and team has done well. So it’s difficult. But when you play at a club like this, there’s always going to be disappointed players.”

Asked about Rodon, who has not made a match-day squad since Jose Mourinho’s final game in charge, Mason added: “Joe was unfortunate in terms of timing. He was cup-tied for the cup final so the first game I felt it was probably right to have the group consistent for what it was going to be in the next game. He's trained well, done well.

“The most important thing for me is he’s remained professional, he’s worked hard, he’s trained well and he’s been good around the club so that’s a massive tick from me.”

Ben Davies remains Spurs’ only absentee with a long-term calf problem and Mason is unsure if the Wales defender will be fit for this summer’s European Championship.

“I am not sure,” he said. “Ben was out doing some individual work and hopefully he will progress very nicely over the next few days and the next week. It is too early to make a decision on the Euros but I am sure Ben feels confident on that.

“We just know he has been out for such a long time, it is not very realistic to expect that he will return to training or play a game in the next 10 days.”
