Dele Alli is in contention to feature for the first time in six matches for Tottenham at Crystal Palace on Sunday in what could be Jan Vertonghen’s final game for the club.
Alli has missed the last five games with a hamstring strain but he has trained this week and is expected to feature at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho has remained tight-lipped on Vertonghen’s future after the Belgian, 33, agreed to complete the season following the end of his contract in June but there have been no talks over a long-term deal and he is expected to leave the club after eight years in the summer.
Mourinho is unlikely to change a winning team after naming the same XI for the impressive victories over Arsenal, Newcastle and Leicester, so Vertonghen and Alli may have to settle for a place on the bench, while Eric Dier is also available again following a four-match ban, fresh from signing a new contract.
Spurs’ only likely absentee is Tanguy Ndombele, who has a hamstring strain, while Michel Vorm is also expected to leave the club for a second time after the match.
The London rivals are at opposite ends of the form table, with Palace having lost their last seven games and Spurs unbeaten in five since a 3-1 reverse at Sheffield United.
The visitors begin the weekend in seventh and they will need a favour from rivals Chelsea to guarantee Europa League football for next season.
If Spurs beat Palace, they will leapfrog Wolves into sixth if Nuno Espirito Santo’s side fail to beat the Blues, while seventh will be enough a Europa League spot if Chelsea beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
Tottenham are guaranteed to finish above their north London neighbours for the fourth season running but if they remain seventh they could yet face the unwelcome scenario of being denied a lucrative European place by their rivals winning the FA Cup.
