Tottenham will make a fresh attempt to sign Inter Milan centre-half Milan Skriniar this weekend after completing a deal for striker Carlos Vinicius.
Spurs last night confirmed they had completed the loan signing of the Brazilian Vinicius, 25, for the season for a £2.7million fee and with the option to make the deal permanent for £38.2m.
His arrival finally ends Jose Mourinho's search for an alternative to Harry Kane and continues Tottenham's impressive transfer window but the Spurs manager still wants a new centre-half before Monday's deadline.
Inter publicly refused to sell Skriniar, 25, following talks with Spurs last month but the London club are now ready to test their resolve with a formal bid.
While the Slovakian is Mourinho's top defensive target, Spurs are also interested in Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger, who could be allowed to move across London on loan provided he signs a one-year contract extension first, South Korean Kim Min-jae and Juventus' Merih Demiral.
