Tottenham warned Harry Kane will quit but there's 'even worse news' over transfer fee

Tottenham fans hoping the departure of Harry Kane will be softened by a £200million cheque have been told: "forget it."

That's according to Paul Merson who says the transfer market is set to drastically change going forward.

Of course, Spurs are adamant Kane is not for sale despite firm interest from Manchester United, who are determined to add a striker this summer.

Erling Haaland and Moussa Dembele are also on United's list of targets, while a permanent deal for Odion Ighalo is not out of the question at this stage.

But Merson believes United shouldn't be put off by Tottenham's public stance, warning Kane could well be on his way.

"I can definitely see him going and if Spurs fans want even worse news, it won't be for anywhere near £200m," he wrote in the Daily Star.

"Kane (above) is an extremely decent player and seems to be an equally decent bloke, but can I see him moving on? Oh, yeah.

"Anyone expecting £200m can forget it. Football is going to have a drastically changed market in future."
