Tottenham 'want' Ange Postecoglou to sign Kyogo from Celtic

Ange Postecoglou is set to join Tottenham as their new manager in the coming days.

Spurs are expected to appoint the Celtic boss as their permanent successor to Antonio Conte in the next 72 hours.

Barring any hiccups, the 57-year-old will take over the reins at the North London outfit, bagging himself a lucrative contract in the world's best league.

It's already been reported that the Australian wants John Kennedy to join him as his No.2 at Spurs.

Several other backroom staff members could also join too, namely Gavin Strachan.

In terms of players following him to the Premier League, it's been quiet on that front so far, with a deal yet to be officially announced.

However, the Scottish Sun says that Spurs want Postecoglou to bring Japanese star Kyogo with him from the Hoops this summer.

The 28-year-old has been a sensational signing for the Scottish champions, and joined as one of Postecoglou's first recruits in the summer of 2021.

It's claimed that he's already on Tottenham's transfer shortlist.

But when Postecoglou joins the club, it seems it will significantly increase their chances of landing Kyogo.

The report claims that Spurs would be prepared to pay around the £25-30million mark to secure the transfer.

Kyogo netted 23 goals in 31 Premiership appearances this term, and scored vital goals in the cup too, including during Saturday's win over Inverness in the Scottish Cup final.

With the Japan international in the prime years of his career, an offer from the EPL would likely be too good to reject.

There are supposedly other teams from England keeping their sights on Kyogo too.

In the aftermath of the cup final at the weekend, Postecoglou was asked about worried fans, who were celebrating, but also apprehensive about the manager leaving.

He said: “I would say to them what I would say to the players – let’s enjoy this.

“I deserve to enjoy this, the people around me deserve to enjoy this.

“Whatever other people want to focus on and talk about, I am not going to miss enjoying this moment with this group of people.

“But also I owe it to my family, my friends, those people closest to me.

“Everyone works hard and makes sacrifices to enjoy these moments.

“I understand that other people who aren’t invested in it want to ask these questions, but for me right now the most important thing is that we reflect and just be in the moment of crowning something special.”
