Tottenham vs Watford prediction: How will Premier League fixture play out today?

PA Wire

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Watford in the Premier League with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side aiming for three wins from three games.

Spurs have enjoyed a boost this week with Harry Kane reaffirming his commitment to the club for this season at least after seeing a move to Manchester City fail to materialise.

Now the England forward is focused on life at Spurs, with his first goals of the season coming midweek to inspire a comeback and 2-0 victory over Pacos to progress 2-1 on aggregate to the Europa Conference League group stage.

The Hornets are aiming to bounce back after going down 2-0 at Brighton last weekend, but did sign Moussa Sissoko to further boost their squad and enhance their chances of survival after returning to the top tier.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the Premier League match today.

When is it?

The match kicks off at 14:00 GMT on Sunday 29 August.

How can I watch it?

The match will not be shown live on British television.

What was the team news?

Harry Kane is primed to make his first start after banking 73 minutes in the Europa Conference League on Thursday. That will likely see Steven Bergwijn dropping down to the bench. Hugo Lloris, Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga will return after resting midweek. Cristian Romero is pushing for a first league start ahead of either Davinson Sanchez or Eric Dier. Joe Rodon and Cameron Carter-Vickers are injured, while Tanguy Ndombele is out of favour and could leave Spurs before Tuesday's deadline.

The Hornets will make late checks on Juraj Kucka (leg injury) and Nathaniel Chalobah (illness), Joao Pedro is out with a knee problem. Danny Rose is pushing to start ahead of Adam Masina. Moussa Sissoko, who joined from Spurs in a permanent deal this week, is not expected to be involved.

Confirmed line-ups

Tottenham XI: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon; Skipp, Højbjerg; Bergwijn, Dele, Son; Kane.

Watford XI: Bachmann; Cathcart, Troost-Ekong, Sierralta, Masina; Etebo, Sissoko, Kucka; Sarr; Dennis, King.

Odds

Tottenham: 2/5

Draw: 7/2

Watford: 15/2

Prediction

Spurs are flying under Nuno with the team spirit elevated and the Portuguese boss dealing with the Kane situation superbly. The England forward has recommitted and looks primed to have a big impact on the pitch to continue this perfect start, the Hornets will make it tough, but we see the hosts emerging as winners, 2-0.
