Tottenham begin the post-Jose Mourinho era this evening as they welcome Southampton to north London in the Premier League.

The Portuguese was sacked on Monday morning, bringing to an end his 17-month spell at Spurs, who will now look to former club midfielder Ryan Mason to guide them to the end of the season amid criticism over the team’s involvement in the planned European Super League.

The biggest fixture in that run will be Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City, but with Tottenham sitting seventh in the table they cannot afford to overlook tonight’s game against the Saints.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team are in mixed form and suffered a heartbreaking FA Cup semi-final defeat by Leicester at the weekend, but they still have a lot to play for, with relegation unlikely but not entirely off the cards just yet.

Prediction

It’s difficult to say how Tottenham will look in their first game without Mourinho – and first under Mason – but don’t be surprised if we see more freedom from the north London outfit. Tottenham 2-1 Southampton.
