Tottenham vs Olympiacos: Three big calls facing Jose Mourinho ahead of his first home match in charge

Jose Mourinho takes charge of his first home match as Tottenham manager on Tuesday night.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, appointed as the successor to Mauricio Pochettino in north London last week, began his Spurs reign on Saturday with a 3-2 win at West Ham.

He now turns his attentions to Champions League matters, with Greek outfit Olympiacos visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Last season's losing finalists will qualify for the last 16 with a game to spare with a win, while a draw would also be enough in the event that Red Star Belgrade fail to beat Group B leaders Bayern Munich.

Here are three big calls facing Mourinho ahead of his home bow...

Christian Eriksen

Asked about the Dane, who is out of contract in the summer, Mourinho said he would pick his team based “on the future”, which does not bode well for Eriksen.

It could be telling if he is benched again tonight.

Danny Rose

With Ben Davies sidelined, Mourinho must choose between Rose and Jan Vertonghen at left-back.

Davies tucked in to form a back three in possession against West Ham, a role more suited to Belgian Vertonghen than Rose.

Tanguy Ndombele

The Frenchman has the talent to be Mourinho’s new Michael Essien but the big question is whether he has the work-rate or the stamina to satisfy the Portuguese in the long term.

He is pushing for a start tonight.
