Howe on 'legend of the Premier League' Son

11:27 , Alex Young

"I think he's one of the legends of the Premier League. We've come up against him many times, as manager of Bournemouth early in his Tottenham career and I thought he was fantastic - his pace, his dribbling ability, his desire to score goals. I thought he was always one of the best players we played against every season.

"The biggest test, I think, for a player's ability is consistency and longevity, and he's been able to do that consistently every year. I've never spent time with him, but he seemed like an incredible professional and incredible person. So it will be a really great moment to share this last game for Tottenham against us and hopefully it's a memorable occasion."

It will be an emotional day for Heung min-Son as he captains Tottenham in his home country on what could be his final appearance for the club.

A strong line-up from Thomas Frank as he looks to build on his side's 1-0 win over Arsenal in Hong Kong.

Isak latest

11:10 , Alex Young

Alexander Isak has landed back in Newcastle as the uncertain situation surrounding his future reaches crunch time.

The Swede had flown to Spain to train by himself at former club Real Sociedad’s facility while his current team-mates were on pre-season tour in Asia.

The striker had ruled himself out of this tour citing a thigh injury, although speculation continued to rumble on about whether he would remain on Tyneside beyond the summer transfer deadline.

Isak is of particular interest to Liverpool, who on Friday lodged a bid worth £110million plus add-ons, which was rejected by Newcastle.

The Magpies are reportedly after a fee in the region of £150m if they are to sell their talisman, and Eddie Howe’s side have already made moves in an attempt to sign a replacement, as they submitted an offer to RB Leizpig for Benjamin Sesko on Saturday.

Isak wants to make the switch to Anfield, and will now have an opportunity for face-to-face talks after it was revealed that he had jetted back into Newcastle following his Spanish escapade.

Frank on 'Spurs legend in every aspect' Son

10:37 , Alex Young

"He has been here 10 years at Spurs, not just 10 years, but 10 amazing years. He is a true Spurs legend in every aspect. I actually think one of the best players who has ever played in the Premier League as a winger, in my opinion.

"I like that the club has been open to it because it is never easy to find that perfect timing, and me coming in a little bit from the side, I think it’s probably the perfect timing, going out on a high. Been here for 10 years, won a well-deserved trophy. Been a key player for many seasons. It’s almost the perfect ending to a happy family."

Son confirms intention to leave during emotional press conference

10:30 , Alex Young

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son yesterday revealed he will leave the club this summer.

Son told a press conference: "Before we start, I wanted to say I have decided to leave the club this summer. Respectfully, the club is helping me with this decision.

"It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career, such amazing memories. It was so hard to make this decision.”

He continued: "I need a new environment to push myself. I need a little bit of change - 10 years is a long time.

"I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age. I leave the club as a grown man, a very proud man.

"I want to say thanks to all the Spurs fans for giving me so much love. I hope the goodbye is also good timing and this is the right time to make that decision. I hope everyone can accept and respect that."

Tottenham vs Newcastle prediction

10:14 , Alex Young

Two teams that both feel a little undercooked as the season begins to creep up on them.

Both seriously need to bolster their squads with more signings, and both their managers have emphasised the importance of doing so before the window slams shut.

The pair have missed out on key targets this summer already, and it is imperative that they get some business done before the campaign commences.

As for this game, Spurs will be buoyed by that win over Arsenal, where, on paper, they looked the weaker side.

Newcastle have had a pretty torrid time of it in their preparations for the new term results-wise, and they could struggle again here.

Tottenham to win. 2-1

Newcastle team news

10:01 , Alex Young

As for Newcastle, besides wantaway striker Alexander Isak, they are almost at full complement.

They are lacking go-to left-back Lewis Hall, who is out with an ankle injury, and Sven Botman’s groin played up in the defeat to Arsenal.

He didn’t feature against the J-League XI, where Joe Willock hobbled off in what appears to be an injury as bad as first feared.

Eddie Howe said: "We initially feared he could have injured part of his Achilles, but thankfully that wasn't the case. But it looks like he's got a problem with a muscle in the calf.

"So we feel the injury isn't as serious as maybe first feared, which is great news for Joe, but it's still going to keep him out for a number of weeks.”

Tottenham team news

09:52 , Alex Young

Heung-min Son is set to start for Tottenham today in what could be his final appearance for the club.

Son has only started once this summer amid uncertainty over his future, but will get the nod in his homeland.

Frank has little reason to rotate his back line after they battled to an impressive clean sheet in the Arsenal friendly. The same can be said of Pape Matar Sarr.

Spurs were not at their sharpest in attack, and Thomas Frank could look to rotate. James Maddison made his injury return off the bench and could slot in higher up the pitch from the off, while Lucas Bergvall has struggled to assert himself in these summer friendlies so far.

Brennan Johnson is also in line for a greater contribution; however, whether he is deserving of a start over Mohamed Kudus is up for debate.

Wilson Odobert showed flashes of threat against Arsenal, rattling the post in the first half, but should make way for Mathys Tel to get some minutes in the legs.

Destiny Udogie remains sidelined with a knee injury, as does Kota Takai, struck down with a plantar fascia issue.

Predicted Tottenham XI (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Spence, Van de Ven, Romero, Porro; Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison; Kudus, Son, Tel
