Tottenham booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Championship side Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
After only managing a 1-1 draw in their first encounter, Jose Mourinho’s men held on for victory in this third-round replay.
Giovani Lo Celso handed the hosts an early goal after striking on two minutes from close range. Fellow Argentine Erik Lamela doubled the lead 13 minutes later after weaving his way through the Middlesbrough defence.
The visitors enjoyed a number of chances, forcing goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga into preventative action on a number of occasions, before George Saville’s late effort offered Jonathan Woodgate’s side fleeting hope of a comeback.
