The embattled Ole Gunnar Solskjaer secured a vital win in Saturday evening’s key Premier League clash in north London.
After a week of intense scrutiny over his future following the 5-0 humiliation by rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford, the Norwegian came out on top in a clash between two under-pressure managers that some fans had dubbed “El Sackico”.
Cristiano Ronaldo was hugely influential for much-improved United, who went to a three-man defence after last weekend’s drubbing, opening the scoring with a brilliant volley as well as providing a terrific assist for Edinson Cavani’s second-half goal.
The scoring was rounded off late by substitute Marcus Rashford, with a relieved Solskjaer celebrating with players and fans at full-time.
Meanwhile, goal-shy Tottenham were booed off the pitch, with fans also registering their displeasure at Nuno’s decision to sub off Lucas Moura on a mutinous night in N17 that will leave the Portuguese with serious questions to answer.
