Tottenham vs Leicester: Player ratings as Christian Eriksen and Youri Tielemans shine at Wembley

Tottenham edged Leicester in a close-fought 3-1 victory at Wembley to keep the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City.

With Jamie Vardy dropped to the bench, Leicester started fast and forced Mauricio Pochettino's side onto the back foot.

But after Son Heung-min was controversially booked for diving in the box after 20 minutes, the tide turned in Tottenham's favour and little over ten minutes later Davinson Sanchez put Spurs ahead with his first Premier League goal.

The Foxes maintained the pressure in the second half and James Maddison won a penalty against Jan Vertonghen after bursting into the box. Vardy came off from the bench to take the spot-kick with his first touch of the game but was denied by a great save from Hugo Lloris.

Soon Spurs made Leicester pay as Christian Eriksen cut in off the left and swatted beyond Kasper Schmeichel to buy some breathing room.

Youri Tielemans impressed in the Foxes midfield, dictating Leicester's attacks and the pace of the game as Claude Puel's side pushed for a goal, eventually coming in the 76th minute as Vardy somewhat redeemed himself.

However, it would prove fruitless as Leicester hurled bodies forward in pursuit of the decisive equaliser and were consigned to defeat by Son's breakaway in stoppage time.
