Tottenham vs Leicester City prediction: Harry Kane backed to score first after Newcastle double

Jose Mourinho played down his impressive record at Tottenham Hotspur - only Liverpool and both Manchester clubs are the only teams to have taken more points in the league since Mourinho took the job.

But despite the praise, Mourinho insists his side could be in a much better position if injuries and suspensions did not play a part.

He said: "I think Spurs would be even better than that without all the problems that we had. I think no other team had even similar problems to that. As I was saying, in the most difficult moment of the season I was just speaking about surviving, surviving was to leave us in a position where we could eventually fight for that.

"The fact that we're fourth since my arrival, without Lloris,  Harry Kane, Sissoko, Son, without almost everybody, is a good reflection of the potential that we have, the work we're all doing.

"That's why I say the minimum we deserve is to finish in a position to keep us in European football, a competition that we don't deserve. It's not our level, we're better than that, but still European competition. Football is not about what you deserve, it's about what you effectively get. So we can't say we deserve it and then don't get points in these two matches. So we need to win matches now."

Recommended bets:

  • Harry Kane to score first - 7/2
  • Spurs to win 2-1 - 17/2

Who will win?

Jose Mourinho's side will be full of confidence going into Sunday's game after their 3-1 win over Newcastle United earlier in the week.

Tottenham are right in the mix for a Europa League spot and they must beat Leicester City if they want to qualify for a place in Europe next term.

It is going to be incredibly tough given the Foxes are looking to secure Champions League qualification but Spurs' good home form, coupled with two wins on the bounce and Leicester's injury issues, should see them take maximum points.

First goalscorer?

Let's go with Harry Kane to score first on Sunday after his double at Newcastle.

The England captain will be confident going into the match and he will no doubt grasp an opportunity with both hands if the ball falls kindly to him in the box.

Who's on pens?

Kane will once again be on penalty duty for Spurs.
