Tottenham vs Crystal Palace
Premier League 2018-19
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Date: Wednesday, 3 April, 2019
Kick-off time: 7:45pm GMT
A new era begins for Tottenham on Wednesday night as Spurs play their first official game at the new home - the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham have held two tests events - an Under-18s game followed by a Spurs Legends clash against Inter Milan - which passed without incident, and the stage is now set for the first Premier League game to be played at the 62,062-seater stadium.
While the scoreline would usually be a footnote on such a momentous occasion, Mauricio Pochettino's side head into Wednesday's clash in desperate need of a win to boost their flailing top four hopes.
Spurs have collected just one point from a possible 15 of late to be sucked back into a battle for Champions League qualification, and Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace would love to spoil the party with three points which would all but seal the Eagles' top-flight survival for another season.
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace team news and predicted line-ups
Harry Winks and Eric Dier both missed Spurs' defeat at Anfield on Sunday, and are facing a race against time to be fit for Wednesday. Pochettino started with a 3-5-2 formation on Merseyside, but switched to a 4-4-2 system which put pressure on Liverpool in the second half.
Mamadou Sakho is Palace's only absentee.
Tottenham XI: Lloris, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Trippier, Sissoko, Eriksen, Rose, Alli, Lucas, Kane
Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Dann, Van Aanholt, Meyer, Milivojevic, Schlupp, Townsend, Batshuayi, Zaha
Score prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Crystal palace
Spurs have been in abject form as their domestic ambitions have slipped from a potential title challenge to now trying to avoid slipping out of the top four altogether.
However, Pochettino will expect his players to put on a display which befits the occasion, and Spurs should have enough quality to get over the line in front of an expectant home crowd.
