Tottenham made a confidence-boosting start to the Premier League season on Saturday, cruising to a 3-0 home win over newly promoted Burnley. After being linked with a move away from the club earlier in the summer, Richarlison got the nod at striker at hit a remarkable double to set the Lilywhites on their way. He volleyed home from Mohammed Kudus’ bobbling cross in the first half, and followed it up with a sweetly taken scissor kick after the break.
Brennan Johnson added a third shortly after Richarlison’s second, after which Spurs were content to let off the accelerator and walk to the finish. Thomas Frank can be encouraged by his new signings’ performances after Kudus posed the hosts’ most consistent threat throughout the afternoon. He has slight cause for concern, though, after he was forced to withdraw Richarlison after the Brazilian seemed to pick up a groin injury.
For Scott Parker, it is back to the drawing board. After a summer of considerable turnover at Turf Moor, he clearly needs more time on the training pitch to get all his new faces on song. Catch up with the action as it happened below!

Around the grounds

Matt Verri at Hotspur Stadium
15:45 , Arthur FerridgeLaurent's shot from the edge of the area takes a slight deflection and Vicario is very keen to tell everyone the ball was spinning as he makes an unconvincing save. Should have caught it really - ends up flapping it behind for a corner

Matt Verri at Hotspur Stadium
15:37 , Arthur FerridgeIt's been fairly flat from Spurs in the last 10-15 minutes. Kudus has looked dangerous every time he's had the ball but otherwise there hasn't been a huge amount of spark from Spurs in attack.
Tottenham 1-0 Burnley

Matt Verri at Hotspur Stadium
15:14 , Arthur FerridgeEarly goal is exactly what Spurs needed and it's what they got. Kudus did so well out wide to keep hold of the ball and work space for the shot, and it's a really well-controlled finish from Richarlison. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is bouncing.

Matt Verri at Hotspur Stadium
15:07 , Arthur FerridgeDubravka decides to test whether the officials will really be enforcing the rule that prevents the goalkeeper from holding the ball for more than eight seconds. Yes, is the answer. Imagine he might be feeling a bit more energetic next time.
Tottenham 0-0 Burnley
15:06 , Arthur Ferridge4mins: Bergvall threatens Dubravka again, this time with a cross, which Dubravka catches. He is subsequently penalised for holding onto the ball for too long, and Spurs have a corner!
Matt Verri at Hotspur Stadium
15:04 , Arthur Ferridge61 seconds is the count for the first 'champions of Europe, we know what we are' chants from the Spurs fans. As expected it's Lucas Bergvall in the No10 role and he very nearly opened the scoring inside 30 seconds. Spurs straight on the front foot.

Matt Verri at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
14:57 , Arthur FerridgeAnother opportunity for Richarlison to lead the line this afternoon. He was so impressive in Udine in midweek when holding up the ball and winning cheap free-kicks. Spurs need a bit more on the end product side of things this afternoon - he should get chances.

14:55 , Arthur FerridgeSpurs fans were out protesting Daniel Levy’s transfer policy pre-match.

Around the grounds
14:30 , Arthur FerridgeThere is plenty more Premier League action on today.
Ten-man Aston Villa resisted a late assault from Newcastle to keep their opening fixture of the season goalless. The Magpies seemed rather toothless in attack - maybe they should look into signing a striker.
Two other London clubs play away from home at 3pm, with Fulham visiting Brighton and West Ham visiting Sunderland. Man City face Wolves in the late kick-off.

Tottenham to miss out on Eze?
14:15 , Arthur FerridgeEberechi Eze’s £68million release clause at Crystal Palace has now expired.
Eze’s buyout clause lapsed on Friday, after Standard Sport first revealed earlier this month that it would expire when the new Premier League season gets underway.
The forward has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham, but neither club wanted to pay the full £68m release clause and it was not triggered before it expired.
The Lilywhites are, however, still rumoured to be interested in his services. Glasner is set to leave the player out of Palace’s matchday squad for tomorrow’s visit to Chelsea.
Walker debuts for Burnley
14:03 , Arthur FerridgeKyle Walker makes his Burnley debut today, as do Loum Tchouana, Quilindschy Hartman, Jaidon Anthony, and Martin Dubravka.
Five of the nine players named on the bench could make their debuts, too, in Max Weis, Lesley Ugochukwu, Zian Flemming, Jacob Bruun Larsen, and Marcus Edwards.
Armando Broja is not in the squad after moving from Chelsea earlier this month.
Matt Verri at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
13:51 , Arthur FerridgeBit of a surprise from Thomas Frank. Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha drop out of the midfield, as the Spurs boss opts for the youth of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall. Return to a back four allows Brennan Johnson to come into the side

Frank promises more transfers as fans plan protest
13:35 , Arthur FerridgeThomas Frank insisted the Tottenham hierarchy are “working night and day” to strengthen the squad ahead of a planned protest from a section of supporters.
Fan group ‘Change For Tottenham’ will hold a protest outside the stadium ahead of Spurs’ opening Premier League match of the season against Burnley on Saturday. It is said to be the first of a number of demonstrations planned throughout the campaign.
Frustration aimed at Daniel Levy and the club’s owners was also clear last season and it has carried into the new campaign after a relatively slow summer of transfer business.
He said: “The team needs the support of the fans, which as far as I have seen and heard and experienced in the past has been very good. That we need massively - it's a new season, a new beginning.”
Tottenham debutants?
13:25 , Arthur FerridgeSpurs have had a busy summer window, adding the likes of Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus to their squad this summer.
But will they get their first tastes of Premier League action in a white shirt today?
Here’s how Standard Sport reckons Spurs will line up for Burnley’s visit to N17...
Tottenham predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Palhinha, Bentancur; Kudus, Sarr, Odobert; Richarlison

Thomas Frank looks to recover from Super Cup defeat in home Premier League bow
13:15 , Arthur FerridgeAfter a summer that has taken him to Hong Kong, Seoul, Munich and Udine, Thomas Frank finally has the chance to enjoy some home comforts.
The Tottenham boss will take his place in the home dugout in north London this afternoon as his side host Burnley in their opening match of the Premier League season.
On paper, at least, it is a kind introduction to the campaign, but it could prove to be anything but.
Standard Sport prediction
13:05 , Arthur FerridgeAfter finishing 17th last season, Spurs will be eager to start the new campaign with a statement of intent.
Burnley presents the perfect opportunity for Spurs to hit the ground running, and with their new signings, they are expected to score a few goals against Scott Parker’s side.
Burnley will likely set up defensively, looking to absorb pressure and strike on the counter, but Tottenham should prove too strong, as Frank views this as a must-win game.

Burnley early team news
12:55 , Arthur FerridgeBurnley have been active in the transfer market, adding 12 new signings to their squad. Most notably, Ugochukwu is expected to make his debut against Spurs as the club’s most expensive acquisition of the summer.
Burnley will be without last season’s standout goalkeeper, James Trafford, who completed a £27m move to Manchester City, but they have replaced him with Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka.
Tottenham early team news
12:45 , Arthur FerridgeDespite opting for a back five against PSG, Spurs are expected to field a back four against Burnley, which should allow for the inclusion of more attack-minded players.
Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha are set to make their Premier League debuts for Spurs, having previously featured in the UEFA Super Cup defeat.
Frank’s side will be without Radu Dragusin, Destiny Udogie, Yves Bissouma, and James Maddison, who ruptured his ACL in last week’s pre-season friendly against Newcastle. Also absent are Dejan Kulusevski and summer signing Kota Takai, who has been sidelined with a plantar fascia issue since joining the club.
Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil, both fringe players who went out on loan last year, have also been ruled out after injuries prevented them from participating in pre-season.
