Jan Vertonghen is expected to start at left-back on Wednesday when Tottenham host Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.
Already without Dele Alli and Harry Kane, Mauricio Pochettino’s options at the back are also limited with both Danny Rose and Ben Davies unavailable through injury.
Veronghen has slotted in at left-back for club and country over the years and shifts along to fill in with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez at the heart of defence.
Son Heung-min, who has three goals in his three appearances since returning from the Asian Cup, leads his side’s attack in Kane’s absence.
Dortmund are also without their first choice striker with Paco Alcacer ruled out due to a shoulder problem. With Marco Reus also unavailable, Mario Gotze is likely to play up front.
