Tottenham vs Barcelona – Champions League as it happened: Lionel Messi leads Barcelona to victory

Lionel Messi tormented Tottenhamas Barcelona inflicted a Champions League blow on their hosts with a 4-2 victory at Wembley.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs were rocked by stunning goals from Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic and two from the irrepressible Messi.

Harry Kane, and then Erik Lamela, briefly gave the hosts a chance of taking something from the match by cutting the deficit to one goal.

As for Liverpool they drop down into second in Group C as Napoli move into first place. They didn't play well tonight and they got what they deserved. A relatively easy match against Red Star Belgrade awaits them next and they'll be looking to put this defeat behind them and get back to winning ways.   
Tottenham are struggling in Group B now. Both Barcelona and Inter Milan have moved onto 6 points apiece with Spurs on 0. Their next match against PSV Eindhoven is now a crucial one, anything less than three points could effectively put their Champions League campaign to an early end.
